Engaged Sessions & Conversion Rates
Engaged Sessions and Conversion Rate Now the Default on Your Dashboards
Traffic is easier to buy than ever, but not all of it is looking for a place to stay. To give you a truer read on your intended travelers, your primary dashboards now lead with engaged sessions and engaged conversion rate. This update is rolling out now.

Why This Matters
When agencies drive high volumes of traffic to the booking engine through social campaigns and other channels, a lot of those visits are unqualified: someone taps an ad, lands, and leaves. Those visits are real, but they pull conversion rate down and can make a healthy booking funnel look weaker than it is. Measuring against engaged traffic puts the focus back on how travelers who actually showed up are behaving.
What Changed
We've aligned with Google Analytics' definition of an engaged session: a visit where the traveler stayed on the page for at least 10 seconds or took an action right away, such as clicking into a property.
- Engaged Sessions — only visits where the traveler engaged with the site
- Engaged Conversion Rate — conversion measured against engaged sessions instead of all visits
- Referral metrics — Referrals (visit property website clicks) and referral rate now sit higher on the dashboard, since they show the demand you're sending directly to local suppliers
What This Means for You
- Expect sessions to go down and conversion rate to go up. That's the definition at work, not a change in traveler behavior. Reservation, room night, and revenue totals are not affected.
- Raw visits are still available. The previous measure, which counts every visit, remains at the bottom of the same dashboard page for anyone who wants the full picture.
- Comparing periods: Data with this definiton is backloaded to 4/28/2025. Reports prior to that date will not include/show blank for the engaged metric. You can use the pre-existing raw totals in this case.
- Effective date: 10/7/2026
- No action needed. The change is automatic.
