Guest Reviews
Learn how guest reviews work in the booking platform, including their source, management, and impact on traveler decision-making.
Purpose
User reviews provide authentic, real-world insights from fellow travelers, often serving as the most persuasive attribute when selecting accommodations. They help potential guests anticipate the strengths and weaknesses of a property, making reviews an invaluable tool for transparency and trust in the booking process.
What Are Guest Reviews?
Definition: User-generated feedback reflecting the personal experiences of travelers who have stayed at the property. Reviews typically include star ratings, written feedback, and often photos, providing a candid insight into what guests can expect. These reviews are a critical factor in a traveler's decision-making process, often outweighing official ratings or property descriptions.
Review Source & Management
Source: Reviews are powered by Google. These are the same reviews found on Google products like Search and Maps. Property reviews are automatically updated on a set interval.
Important: Nobody has the ability to edit, modify or hide review content; this includes Ripe, Clients, Affiliates and Properties. The purpose of reviews is to inform travelers of real-life experiences from other travelers.
- Good reviews are the most influential factor in positive conversion
- Bad reviews will typically have a negative impact
- Best practice: The most effective way for a property to address negative reviews is to directly address the specific items mentioned
Review Display
A limited number of reviews are shown on the property detail page due to integration limits. Our partner, Google, returns reviews based on "relevance" which often includes:
- Recently posted reviews
- A blend of positive and negative reviews
- An attempt to provide a comprehensive picture of the property
Common Review Factors
Guest reviews typically focus on these key areas:
- Cleanliness: How well-maintained and clean the rooms and facilities are
- Service: The friendliness, helpfulness, and professionalism of the staff
- Location: Proximity to local highlights, attractions, and conveniences
- Value: Perceived value for money considering the cost versus the quality of experience
- Amenities: The quality and condition of amenities like Wi-Fi, pools, and dining options
