ChatGPT <> Ripe MCP

Connect the Ripe MCP Server to your own ChatGPT account and ask it to search Ripe lodging, check live availability, and link you straight to the booking page. Setup takes a few minutes.

A quick note on labels: Specific label names within ChatGPT often change. The steps below describe the path as of October 2026, and we call out common alternatives where we know of them. If a menu name doesn't match exactly, look for the closest equivalent: the goal is to add a custom MCP server and point it at your Ripe URL.

Before you begin

• A Ripe MCP token. Don't have one yet? Follow the steps in Ripe MCP Setup & Authentication and come back here.
• A paid ChatGPT plan that supports custom MCP connections. These are not available on ChatGPT Free. On Business, Enterprise, and Edu workspaces, an admin may need to enable the feature first.
• ChatGPT on the web. Custom MCP apps are not available in the mobile app.

Connect Ripe

1. Sign in to ChatGPT at chatgpt.com.
2. Open Settings and go to Apps (you may also see this called Connectors or Plugins).
3. Turn on Developer mode. It is typically under Advanced settings, and on some accounts it is listed under Security and login. If your account lets you add a custom MCP server without it, you can skip this step.
4. Select Create (or Add custom MCP server, depending on your account).
5. Fill in the app details:
   • Name: Ripe
   • Description: Search Ripe lodging with live availability
   • MCP server URL: https://mcp.bookripe.com/v1/mcp-global/k/[yourmcptoken], replacing [yourmcptoken] with your unique token
   • Authentication: None. Your token is already part of the URL.
6. Acknowledge the connection warning, then select Scan Tools if prompted. ChatGPT should list Ripe's tools.
7. Select Create to save.

Try it out

1. Start a new chat and select Ripe from the tools menu, or mention it in your prompt.
2. Ask something like: "Find a pet-friendly place to stay in Park City next weekend, under $400 a night."
3. ChatGPT should search properties, confirm real pricing and availability for a top pick, and give you a direct link to the live booking page.

Good to know

• Ripe is read-only. The MCP server searches and reads, it does not book. You complete the reservation on the linked booking page.
• Treat your URL like a password. It contains your token. Don't share it or post it publicly. Ripe can revoke a token at any time for abuse or rate-limit issues.
• ChatGPT may ask you to confirm before it calls a tool.
• Agent mode does not use custom apps. Use a standard chat, or Deep Research for read-only lookups.

Troubleshooting

• Menu names don't match these steps? This is common, since ChatGPT labels change often. Look in Settings for Apps, Connectors, or Plugins, and for an option to create or add a custom MCP server.
• No Developer mode or Create option? Confirm your plan supports custom MCP connections. On a workspace plan, ask your admin.
• Scan Tools finds nothing, or the app won't connect? Check that your token is complete, has no extra spaces, and hasn't been revoked.
• Ripe doesn't show up in your chat? Select it from the tools menu for that message. App selection applies per message.
