Property Type Mappings

Within certain API responses for properties Ripe will return a value to represent the property type. The value is constant, while at times, the written name changes on our front-end. For this reason you can either match the values Ripe use, or define your own, but similar value.

For example, a property type of51 is defined as House in the booking engine, but you may choose to call 51 a Home. If choosing your own name, always use something similar to the original from Ripe to prevent mis-leading names or inaccuracies. For example, never refer to 51 as Hotel as that is a completely different property type.

Starting in early 2025 Ripe standardized the common property types being used. Most properties returned will be one of these.

Most common property types

9- Hotel: Traditional lodging with private rooms, on-site services, and amenities like room service, concierge, and often restaurants or bars.
41 - Motel: Typically roadside accommodations with direct access to rooms from parking areas, offering basic amenities and convenient for travelers on the move.
51 - House: Entire residential properties available for stays, offering private, fully furnished accommodations ideal for families or groups.
3 - Condominium: Self-contained units within a larger complex, often with kitchen facilities, living areas, and more space, suitable for extended stays or families seeking a home-like experience.
1 - Bed & Breakfast: Smaller, often independently owned properties offering a more personalized stay with breakfast included, typically situated in charming or historic buildings.
33 - Campground: Outdoor lodging options that range from basic tent sites to more equipped RV spots or cabins, appealing to travelers looking for a nature-centric, rustic experience.
