Integrations: Event & Demand Generator

This checklist can be used to ensure success on an event booking instance where travelers already look for trusted lodging information.

What demand generators are

Demand generators are events, venues, and attractions that bring guests to your destination. They are often the trusted source for why a guest is traveling, so their websites and communications should point guests to the correct booking experience.

For events that drive overnight demand, make sure the event organizer knows they have the opportunity to use your destination's booking engine that they can share with travelers. The goal is to help guests find local lodging options through a clear booking path backed up by white-glove customer service.

Integration options

After the customized booking experience is built for the event, venue, or attraction, publish it in the places guests already use.

Implementation checklist

  1. Confirm the demand generator type: event, venue, or attraction.
  2. Work with your CSM or use the provided Event Lodging Marketplace intake form to create the customized booking experience is ready to share.
  3. Your CSM will provide the desired integration format(s): widget, landing page link, search results page, or a combination of these options.
  4. Add the selected integration to high-visibility website areas, such as the lodging header or lodging menu listing.
  5. Add the same booking path to guest communications, including emails, confirmations, and newsletters.
  6. Test each placement from a traveler’s perspective to confirm the link or widget opens the correct booking experience.

Technical handoff details

Share the exact integration details with the event, venue, or attraction team before launch. Your CSM is also happy to work with your partners to help set this up.

  • Widget placement: Provide the page location where the widget should appear, such as the lodging page, header, or menu listing.
  • Landing page link: Provide the final URL and the recommended link text for emails, confirmations, and newsletters.
  • Search results page: Provide the search results URL and specify where it should be linked from on the website or in communications.
  • Launch validation: Confirm every published placement sends travelers to the correct customized booking experience before the event promotion begins.

Success measures

Track whether the integration is easy for travelers to find and use. Review the live website and guest communications to confirm the booking path appears in every agreed placement: lodging header, menu listing, emails, confirmations, and newsletters.
